With a history spanning over 150 years, the Magee family of Donegal has been crafting luxurious fabrics and garments for five generations.

John Magee began the company on handwoven tweed over 150 years ago in a small drapers establishment in Donegal, Ireland. The tough, coarse textile was woven by hand by part-time fisherman and farmers in Donegal to protect themselves from the cold and damp weather that often hit the area, in stark contrast to the soft materials manufactured today. In 1900, Robert Temple a relative of John Magee and an apprentice bought the business. Third- and fourth-generation Temples Lynn, Charlotte, Paddy, and Rosy are still in charge today.

Donegal Town, on the banks of the River Eske, is home to Magee’s weaving mill, the hub of their operations. They are happy to give a contemporary spin on an old craft by supporting weaving and textile production, two long-established activities in Ireland’s northwest.
